WHO WE ARE

Innovation has a strong tradition in Chemnitz. The foundations for the close link between engineering, science and culture in the south-west of Saxony, which still has a determining influence on study and research at Technische Universität Chemnitz, go back to the 16th century. What is now Technische Universität Chemnitz had its foundation with the establishment of the Royal Mercantile College (Königliche Gewerbschule) in 1836, which catered to the region's demand for a well-trained workforce.

WHAT WE DO

The Distributed and Self-organizing Systems Group (VSR) conducts teaching and research in distributed computing with particular emphasis on software architectures, components and services, and protocols and development technologies for Web-based distributed systems. VSR investigates the application of these technologies for agile development and evolution of Web-applications and to support massively distributed collaboration.In the Web-applications context the group has a vast experience in the domain of Web Engineering, and secure and federated Web applications. The group is also well-known for their work on Restful data integration, component and link composition, and information management in the context of mass collaboration. The current research focus is on linked data, compliance, and micro-blogging as development principles for self-organizing, federated Web-based applications.In short: We help our enterprise customers and partners to realize the next level of Web-based collaboration.The Professorship Distributed and Self-organizing Systems (VSR) started its work in Oct 2007, when Prof. Gaedke from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) (at the IT-Management and Web Engineering Research Group, University of Karlsruhe) was appointed. The VSR is one of 14 professorships in the department of Computer Science at Technische Universität Chemnitz, Germany.VSR is known to be a place for future-obsessed do′ers and non-linear thinkers. HOW WE WORK

Here at VSR, we work in a team-oriented way, applying agile practices and methods, including test driven development. Our development process is supported by a set of approved software, like TeamCity for Continuous Integration (CI) and Visual Studio as development environment.Our projects are usually managed using Scrum. The infrastructure we are working with includes powerful servers, a private cloud system, modern development machines, a revolutionary multi-touch computer and serveral mobile devices.Follow the link for further details about our process of development.
